ABOUT ME
My name is Kate Henderson, and I am currently a high school senior. I plan to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville next year. I will be majoring in Therapeutic Recreation which is very similar to Kinesiology (the study of mechanics of body movements). The biggest difference between the two majors is you have fewer electives and a more defined set of courses in Therapeutic Recreation. The added classes are mostly based in psychology. If you click on each major above you will find their corresponding curriculum. After I receive my bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation I plan on either going to speech or occupational therapy school and specializing in children with special needs. Working with special needs children has been a passion of my since I was 9 years old and I met my first friend with special needs. She changed my life and made me see all that the special needs community has to offer. She showed me that I can do something important with my future and help people like her everyday. I have been working with the special needs (JOY) ministry at my church since I met her and have volunteered in many fun events with them that you can see on my community service page also linked here.
